Probably as humor, many of the roads on the island have "Autobahn" in their name.

Forests on the island vary between upland maritime, lowland hardwood and old and new pine plantations. Much of the forest on the island that we saw looked like this, and controlled burns have occasionally been implemented to try to mimic natural fire cycles and to reduce the impact of wildfire to Hog Hammock.
